Type III PRECISION SULFURIC ACID
ANODIZING
AKA "Hardcoat, Hard Anodize"
This Finish is RoHS Compliant
( Per Mil-A-8625 Type III Class 1 & Class 2)
What Is Hard Anodizing?
Hard Anodizing or Hardcoat is an electrochemically produced grey layer of hard aluminum oxide on the surface of aluminum components.
The coating grows integrally with the base metal and is corrosion and wear resistant and machineable.
The thickness can be very closely controlled and be applied to a wide range of parts to suit applications from many industries.
Hard Anodizng is a well established process suitable for meeting today's demanding quality requirements.
National and International standards provide a basis for the secification, production and testing of the coating.
To ensure a satisfactory end product it is important that you work closely with the us at the specification stage on:
* The application for the component
* The aluminum alloy to be used
* Corrosion and hardness requirements
* Thickness range of the film final dimensional tolerances
* Optimum location for contact points
* Any approval requirements
Hard Anodizing finishes have an established reputation in a wide variety of applications. Major user industry sectors include:
* Aerospace
* Defense
* Pneumatic
* Hydraulic
* Automotive
* Energy
* Chemical
* Medical
* Bakewear
* Textile
* Marine
* Electronic
A Class 1 finish is the natural color of the oxide coating
A Class 2 finish is usually dyed black.

Our strict quality control measures will ensure that your parts will be consistent in color from one order to the next.
* When color matching is important we highly recommend using the same alloy on all parts.
The oxide coating from sulfuric acid hard anodizing of this Type III is controlled to a total thickness in the range .0005" to .0025" +/- .0001
